FAQ

Questions people bring to the first call

What should I do first after an injury?

Get medical care, and tell the doctor how it happened. Report the injury in writing where it happened, and keep a copy. Then call us, before you give a recorded statement or sign anything.

Should I talk to the insurance company?

You are not required to give a recorded statement to the other side's insurer. You can say your lawyer will contact them, and send the call to us.

When does my window to claim close?

Deadlines vary by the kind of claim and are often shorter than people expect. Cruise tickets and some maritime contracts shorten them further. Call us early so we can check yours.

What do I pay to hire the firm?

We take injury claims on contingency: no attorney's fee unless we recover. Case costs, such as records and expert reports, are separate. Your written agreement says whether you would owe them if there is no recovery.

Will I owe anything if we do not win?

You would not owe an attorney's fee. Whether you would owe case costs is set out in the written agreement, and we explain it before you sign.

Do you take cases outside your four areas?

Sometimes, and when we do not, we will say so and suggest who to call.

Can you help if I do not speak English well?

Khoi Duong speaks English and Vietnamese. For other languages, we can arrange an interpreter for meetings.

What if my employer is the problem?

It is against the law to punish someone for reporting an injury. If your job is threatened, tell us.

Nothing here is advice

A general answer is not an answer for your case

These answers are general. Your facts, your job and the date of your injury change them, so call or write before you decide anything.
