Wrongful death
For the family, after a death
You decide the pace. We take the paperwork.
When someone dies because of another party's fault, the law lets certain family members, and sometimes the estate, bring a claim. It can cover funeral costs, lost income and support, and the loss of a person's care and company.
When the death happened at sea, on a dock or offshore, federal maritime law may decide who can claim and for what. We work out which rules apply before anything is filed.
What a claim can cover

Questions
Questions from families
Who can bring a claim?
State law decides, usually a spouse, children or parents, and sometimes the estate. For a seaman or a harbor worker, federal law may apply instead. We tell you who is eligible at the first meeting.
Does a family have to hurry?
Yes, and it is often shorter than people expect. It also differs by the kind of claim. Call us before you decide anything, so we can check it for you.
Do I have to talk to the other side's insurer?
No. You may get a call early on. You can say your lawyer will be in touch, and send it to us.
